Virology: Can be used to evaluate the infectious entry of polyomaviruses (BKPyV, JCPyV, SV40) and human papillomaviruses. Pathogenic variants of the JCPyV virus previously believed to be non-infectious can infect this cell line, especially in the presence of the chemical 3Fax-Peracetyl Neu5Ac (3Fax) (ATCC=CRL-3469).
Doubling time: ~30 hours (ATCC=CRL-3469).
